A ranger station is located adjacent to our facility. National Park Service emergency rangers are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Trails are mostly sand-covered with little tree-coverage.
Fort Funston is often foggy and windy.
On the second day of the overnight, the SFUSD Environmental Science Center staff lead a hike up and down a 200 foot sand staircase. The hike is strenuous and typically takes 10 minutes each way.
