Middle School Science
Deb currently holds the position of Middle School Science Instructional Coach. For the past 29+ years, Deb has been a middle school science and mathematics teacher, a high school Biology and Earth Science teacher, a mentor to many new teachers, and a professional development provider for numerous math and science teachers. Over the years, Deb has been a leader and an advocate for science and literacy at both school and district levels.
Recently, Deb was a member of the Humanities Department with a focus on content literacy in secondary science. She collaborated with the Science Department on developing the literacy strategies found in the new Middle School Science Core Curriculum. Deb has a great commitment to building the literacy skills of students in science and beyond and encouraging science teachers to seamlessly integrate literacy practices and strategies into their science lessons. Deb loves coaching teachers and enjoys learning from her mentees as much as she enjoys guiding them in their first years of teaching.
In her spare time, Deb enjoys reading, hiking, exploring nature, writing, swimming, music, movies, and just plain having a good time. Most importantly, she has a good sense of humor and loves to laugh!
